Last harvest of Season 2018 and glimpse to our Spring

Year 2018 was exceptional for us. We reached far more than I dared to dream. In Para-Dressage as a team with Maestoso Madam we wereRegional Champions, Equimind's online Summer Champions and won Equimind's Rider's League. In my other Para sport, Para-Athletics Shot Put I got a silver medal in National Championships in the summer. All this combined I was awarded as a Para-Athlete of the year in my own region Häme.

Last blast of the year 2018 took place in one of the biggest horse events in Finland Horses-Fair this Spring where I received a Trophy from being number one with Masu in Regional Ranking in Häme. Also our riding club which we were representing last year awarded as from a job well done in 2018 with beautiful white roses and a new competition shirt for me.

Spring and a mare - legendary combination

Spring seems to loosen up some springs in mare's brain when sunlight increases. Hormones kicks in and all sorts of intellectual Activity disappears. In Finland it usually happens sometime in March. Masu becomes a wild child and frankly, really annoying. Early days of April our riding ring was finally completely clear of ice and snow and it was time to release some pressure from Masu's brain. She got to run wild and free in the ring and she made the most out of it! I had more than enough time to take photos and video clips of Masu and I managed to get some of the best pictures I have ever taken of her.

Pictures tell more than words so here is just a few of one hundred billion photos I took. (Story continues after photos)

Online competitions here we come!

Our  Online competing got a really good start with PB result in Para-Dressage 73,75%! Dressage Anywhere offers a great opportunity to all Para Equestrians with classification worldwide to compete and improve riding in a BD Para Equestrian classes every month. It's always such a delight to compete when everything is running as smoothly as it is with Dressage Anywhere. I uploaded my test to YouTube and sent the link to Dressage Anywhere on one Monday afternoon and couple of hours later I received my scoresheet full of encouraging comments and insightful comments on what to improve from BD list 1 and FEI 5* Para-Dressage judge! I loved in the collective marks and comments. Amongst them there it was spotted by the judge, our aim in everything we do: "Lovely partnership."

And I was especially happy about our halt in the middle of the test. I bet you have heard the saying about blind chicken finding the corn every once in awhile. Me and Masu are together like the blind chicken and perfect square halt is our corn. But this time we found it! And it's on film!! We got 8,5 from that halt. I really appreciate and cherish the fact that I got an 8 from "Equestrian feel and skill of rider. Accuracy." That is something to be happy about!

Have a great Spring and remember to take time to notice and be happy about those brief moments when you succeed in something!
